‘I hate cliché questions like, what is my favourite colour, my favourite food or how many TV plays I have recently worked in and such,” Zakia Bari Mamo said in reply to a question by Prothom Alo correspondent.

TV and film actress Mamo is one of the popular artistes in her generation. She has started shooting for her next film ‘Dohon’ after the Eid vacation and will also be working very soon in ‘Balighar’ directed by Tollywood’s Arindam Sil.

The actress talked about her ongoing and upcoming work, her likings and many other things in a recent interview with Prothom Alo.

The excerpts of her interview are as follows:

Prothom Alo: What’s your role in ‘Dohon’?
Mamo: My name in the film is Maya. I do not want to disclose anything about Maya’s character right now. I am trying to hold the character in me.

Prothom Alo: What about the other venture ‘Balighar’?
Mamo: Shooting will start in September. I cannot say anything else now.

Prothom Alo: What’s your expectation for ‘Balighar’?
Mamo: See, no one can predict about how a film will do. Not even the director. We will try to give our best. Let’s see what happens.

Prothom Alo: Two other actresses were supposed to work for your roles in ‘Dohon’ and ‘Balighar’. What do you want to say?
Mamo: What if I tell you that both these film offers came to me first? There were reasons for the films to change hands and finally come back to me.
So, you cannot say I am replacing others.

Prothom Alo: What comes first in your mind while selecting a TV play?
Mamo: I always select a script from the audiences’ point of view. If I like the story as a viewer I say yes to it.

Prothom Alo: Name an actor who you desire to work with once in lifetime?
Mamo: Bollywood’s Aamir Khan, undoubtedly.

Prothom Alo: Imagine there are no banks in the world. Where do you keep your money?
Mamo: Under my pillow!
