Seven participants from Bangladesh are taking part in Kolkata-based TV channel Zee Bangla's musical reality show SaReGaMaPa.

After being selected in the audition, the participants are now in Kolkata for a grooming session.

Six among the seven participants were involved in different talent hunt programmes in Bangladesh earlier.

Abanti Sithi was among the Top 10 of Closeup One in 2012 while Mugdho Tanjim was the champion of Channel i Shera Kontho in 2010. Another two Shera Kontho top contestants, Mezbah Bappy and Rumana Eti, who took part in the programme in 2012 and 2014 respectively, are there, too.

The second runner up of Bangladeshi Idol, Monty Sinha and FizzUp-Channel i Shera Kontho 2017 finalist Atiya Anisha are also there while the only person who did not appear in any such show before is Mainul Ahsan.

These information were posted by the participants on their Facebook accounts. According to that, they were selected through an audition at a private college compound in Uttara, Dhaka on 27 July.

Rumana Eti said they had to give an online audition too prior to this one.

“We had to go past several stages,” Eti said in a WhatsApp conversation.

“I’ve come to Kolkata on 24 August. A grooming has started since then. The shooting will begin within a day or two. The participants have to perform before the grand juries afterwards.”

Abanti Sithi attended the programme as a guest last year. This year she will be a contestant, “It’ll be a new experience for me.”

Many had confused Ruman Eti as a judge when she went for the audition, said the singer. “But I went there as a contestant. One of the prime reasons was to learn something new. Taking part in competitions of two different countries will be a new experience.”

The programme will go on air on 15 September. However, none associated with the programme was available for comments.
