Shuvro Dev is an ardent fan of Kishore Kumar. The legend’s songs bring back memories of his youth. He had been thinking for quite some time about bringing out an album with some of those songs. He finally did and sang one from the album at the ICCR auditorium in Kolkata.

He was invited by a local organisation to sing at the ICCR auditorium in Kolkata last Saturday. In the musical evening organised by the Pet Wellness Society, he sang Kishore Kumar’s ‘Aj ei din ta ke’ and ‘Chandi Das Rajakini’ from his own album. Popular singer Shilajit of Kolkata presented him a crest.

Besides Shuvro Dev, Purna Das Baul, Shilajit, Vinod Rathore, Papiya Adhikari, Sudeb Dey, Rajnandini Dutta and singing group Zenith Boys also took part in the programme. ‘It is an honour given to the artistes involved in social activities’, Shuvro Dev said from Kolkata. This initiative has been taken by the actor and singer Mousumi Das to honour those in the entertainment industry who work for trees and animals.

Shuvro Dev is acclaimed as a popular singer of Bangla songs for more than three decades. He bagged the Youth Award this year and the Mother Teresa Award last year for his work. The singer said that his new album will be released by March next year. The album will be released online and on CD.
