Prominent singer Subir Nandi will be taken to Singapore on Monday for better treatment as directed by prime minister Sheikh Hasina, reports UNB.

Ekushey Padak-winning singer Subir Nandi, now undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka, will be flown to Singapore tomorrow by an air ambulance at the directive of prime minister Sheikh Hasina, PM's press secretary Ihsanul Karim said.

The singer was admitted to the CMH, Dhaka on 14 April after he suffered a massive heart attack.

Since then, prime minister Sheikh Hasina has been monitoring the health condition of the critically ill singer.

Earlier, on behalf of the prime minister, her special assistant lawyer Biplab Barua went to the CMH to enquire about the treatment of Subir Nandi.

On 19 April, singers Kumar Biswajit, Tapan Chowdhury, Rafiqul Alam and noted physician Samanta Lal Sen met Sheikh Hasina at Ganabhaban to apprise her about the treatment of the singer.

The prime minister directed Samanta Lal Sen to send all the medical papers of Subir Nandi to Singapore and take the opinions of expert physicians of that country.

Sheikh Hasina told them that earlier she had extended all kinds of cooperation for Subir Nandi's treatment twice in 1998.
