Director of Goethe-Institut Bangladesh Kirsten Hackenbroch delivered the welcome speech at the opening ceremony, the statement adds.

"Science Film Festival is here to engage people with a sustainable future. The science films are particularly addressed to the young generation. The youngsters should take it as a chance to explore a diversity of worlds via the films," said Kirsten Hackenbroch.

"Scientific research will be a key factor for Bangladesh in its endeavour to achieving the status of a developed country. The Science Film Festival presents scientific issues, its accessibility and is entertaining a broad audience. It demonstrates that science can be approached in various ways," said Burkhard Ducoffre, it also says.

"The importance of science communication is now more urgent than ever. This is why the Humboldt and Web of Life Science Festival took this great initiative that is addressing the importance of reaching out to the younger audience," said Samiya Selim.

The festival is a celebration of science communication in Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. In cooperation with local partners, it promotes science literacy and facilitates awareness of contemporary scientific, technological and environmental issues through film and television content with accompanying educational activities.
