Heavy rainfall likely on Sunday

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Saturday predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Barishal and Chattogram divisions in the next 24 hours (ending at 4:00pm) on Sunday.

“Due to well-marked low over the North Bay and adjoining areas, deep convection is taking place over the Bay and its adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh,” said a Met office warning message this afternoon.

Under its influence, heavy (44-88mm) to very heavy (>89mm) rainfall with gusty or squally wind is likely to occur over Barishal and Chattogram divisions during the next 24 hours commencing from 4:00pm today, the message said.

Due to very heavy rainfall, landslides may occur at some places over the hilly regions in Chattogram division.
