A light rain drenched the capital on Monday afternoon, offering city dwellers relief from sweltering heat, reports UNB.

The meteorological office recorded 3 millimeters of rainfall until 3:00pm, said meteorologist Abdur Rahman.

"It's because of the influence of the nor'wester," he told UNB. The rain started around 3:00pm and continued for about 20 minutes.

A low lies over West Bengal to Northeast Bay across Bangladesh.

The Met office said rain or thunder showers, accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind, are likely to occur at many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet division.

It has also forecast moderately heavy to heavy rainfalls and isolated hails at places across Bangladesh.
