Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal number one.

The depression over east-central bay and adjoining area moved westwards further and intensified into a deep depression over the same area on Wednesday morning, reports news agency UNB.

It was centred about 1,005 km south-southwest of Chattogram port, 930km south-southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 995km south of Mongla port and 950km south of Payra port at 6:00am, according to a special weather bulletin of the Met Office.

The depression is likely to intensify further and move in a northwesterly direction.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised not to venture into the deep sea until further notice.
