2 Bangladeshis die of coronavirus in NY

Two Bangladeshis have died of COVID-19 coronavirus in New York on Thursday night.

Both of the patients lived in Queens city borough.

One of the deceased was in his 60s and lived in Astoria. He had several health complications and was under treatment at a Queens hospital after being diagnosed with coronavirus.

The other victim, a cab driver, was 50 years old and lived in Woodside. NYPD official Khan Shawkat confirmed his death.

Coronavirus has created panic among the Bangladeshi community in NY.

No accurate statistics regarding how many Bangladeshis are infected are available as yet. Families of the infected are reluctant to share information.

The US government and other sources are providing the numbers of the infected and dead people but not their identities.

It has been confirmed that 21 Bangladeshis have been infected with the virus in New York.

So far 275 coronavirus patients have died in the US and over 19,000 infected.
