A Palestinian woman was shot dead by Israeli forces near the southern West Bank city of Bethlehem on Sunday, the Palestinian health ministry said.

The Israeli army said troops fired warning shots into the air when a suspect approached and then "fired towards the suspect's lower body", near the town of Husan. The woman was transferred to the Red Crescent for treatment, the army added.

The Palestinian health ministry said the woman, aged in her 40s, died after she suffered a torn artery and massive blood loss.
