Rafiqul's realm of print works speaks against war

Artist Rafiqul Islam's second print exhibition, 'Transformation', which speaks against war and wants peace in the world, is now on at La Galerie of Alliance Francaise de Dhaka (AFD) in Dhanmondi of the capital city.

The 16-day art show features a total of 60 print works comprising etching, aquatint, cyanotype, lithography and woodcut works.

The exhibition was inaugurated on Friday. Professor Abul Barq Alvi of Faculty of Fine Arts' printmaking department, University of Dhaka and renowned artist Shahid Kabir attended the event as special guests, says an AFD press release.

Rafiqul's works 'Transformation-1, 2, 3', 'The War Child', 'Hunter' and 'The Birth' portray the difficult reality of people's tendency to engage in war, aggression and violence.

'Wheels' is another important part of his work, an urge to break free from the chains.

The exhibition will be open to all till 12 October, Saturday at La Galerie, Alliance Française de Dhaka.

Visiting Hours: Monday to Thursday from 3:00pm to 9:00pm, Friday and Saturday (9:00am to12:00 noon and 5:00pm to 8:00pm). It will remain closed on Sundays
