icddr,b develops ‘call-to-action’ to ensure menstrual hygiene

The International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) has developed a ‘call-to-action’ to ensure menstrual hygiene management among women and girls in the country.

The icddr,b came up with the announcement on its Facebook page on the occasion of Menstrual Hygiene Day on 28 May.

It asked for donations to provide free, life-saving care to more than 200,000 patients adding that there would be significant impacts on women’s ability to manage their menstruation, health and hygiene during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The institution also noted that the pandemic has direct consequences on human health including secondary ones.

Till date Bangladesh has reported 38,292 coronavirus cases including 544 deaths.
