Young artist Kazi Sayed Ahmed’s signature style of bringing jute hessian back to life has been portrayed in his seventh art-show, now going on at La Galerie of Alliance Française de Dhaka.

The two-week exhibition, titled ‘Surface as Symbol’, was inaugurated by eminent artist Monirul Islam as chief guest on Friday, says a press statement.

Reaz Uddin Al-Mamoon, managing director of Epyllion Group, and Dewan Sayeedul Hassan, joint secretary of Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges also attended the inaugural programme.

Kazi Sayed Ahmed has always been obsessed with unnecessary materials. As an artist, he has developed a signature stratagem of using jute hessian on canvas.

A total of 12 artworks in mixed media have been put on display for this exhibition which will be open to all till Wednesday, 14 September 2018, the statement adds.

In his seventh show, Kazi Sayed moved on to a higher land inclining to make the best use of his arsenal. His canvas has appeared as if it is the ‘field of action’, rather than vision/visualisation.
