Budding artists to display stamp paintings

Women’s rights pioneer Begum Rokeya has been painted as per a stamp. Photo: Prothom AloStudents of Moonsez Art Academy will showcase their talents at a group painting exhibition to be held in the capital's Alliance Francaise de Dhaka from Tuesday (9 October).

Titled 'Daak-ticketey Dekhi Amar Desh' (My Country Through Stamps)', the 10-day art-show will feature a number of paintings inspired by the stumps of Bangladesh.

Photo: Prothom AloDirector general of Bangladesh Post Office, Sushanto Kumar Mondal, will inaugurate the exhibition as chief guest while visual artist SM Saiful Islam will also attend the opening ceremony as special guest, according to a press statement of AFD.

Pahela Baishakh (First day of Bangla calendar) has been portrayed in a painting. Photo: Prothom AloAs of 2017, Bangladesh Post Office has issued a total of 732 postage stamps and 28 souvenir sheets which inspired the child artists of Moonsez Art Academy to create their own versions of the stamps.

The exhibition will be open to all till Thursday, 18 October 2018.
