Budding artists to display stamp paintings

Students of Moonsez Art Academy will showcase their talents at a group painting exhibition to be held in the capital's Alliance Francaise de Dhaka from Tuesday (9 October).

Titled 'Daak-ticketey Dekhi Amar Desh' (My Country Through Stamps)', the 10-day art-show will feature a number of paintings inspired by the stumps of Bangladesh.

Director general of Bangladesh Post Office, Sushanto Kumar Mondal, will inaugurate the exhibition as chief guest while visual artist SM Saiful Islam will also attend the opening ceremony as special guest, according to a press statement of AFD.

As of 2017, Bangladesh Post Office has issued a total of 732 postage stamps and 28 souvenir sheets which inspired the child artists of Moonsez Art Academy to create their own versions of the stamps.

The press release also says the budding artists will be able to experience Bangladesh and its history in a different way by participating in the exhibition.

The exhibition will be open to all till Thursday, 18 October 2018.
