Shiv Chaturdashi fair begins

The annual Shiv Chaturdarshi fair, one of the major religious festivals of the Hindu community, started at Chandranath Dham of Sitakunda on Monday.

It is taking place on top of the Chandranath hill.
The pilgrims would bathe the idol of Shiv with coconut water and milk at 7:12pm on Tuesday. Dol Purnima will be celebrated on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Like previous years, several hundred saints and worshipers from different countries have gathered at the fair. A four-day conference of Hindu saints and scholars started on Sunday and will end on Wednesday with the fair.
Officer-in-charge of Sitakunda model police station Delwar Hossain said surveillance cameras have been installed and a three-tier security arrangement has been made to tackle any untoward situations.
