Joy opens startup accelerator, labs

Information and communication technology (ICT) adviser to prime minister Sajeeb Wazed Joy on Thursday inaugurated a startup accelerator and two specialised laboratories of Bangladesh Computer Council at ICT Tower in the city, reports UNB.

Joy inaugurated country's first ever international quality software testing and certification centre, government's first accelerator for startups to create 1000 services and inventory products with 2021 and computer incident response team laboratory, said a press release.

Posts, telecommunications and information technology minister Mustafa Jabbar, state minister of ICT division, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, secretary of ICT division Juena Aziz, executive director of Bangladesh Computer Council, Parthapratim Deb were also present there.

Startup accelerator is fixed-term, cohort-based programs that include seed investment, connections, mentorship, educational components, and culminate in a public pitch event or demo day to accelerate growth. Most startup accelerators in Silicon Valley and globally are privately funded as an investment fund that take equity and focus on a wide range of industries.
