The 3G and 4G mobile data services were resumed across the country on Tuesday morning after a suspension of hours.

Mobile phone operators told Prothom Alo that they began to withdraw the suspension at 10:21 in the morning.

The Bangladesh Telecommunication and Regulatory Commission (BTRC) reissued the suspension around 6:00pm on Sunday hours after the end of 27-hour shutdown for the 11th parliamentary elections, in which the ruling Awami League led by the prime minister Sheikh Hasina sealed a crushing victory.

On 13 December, the detectives of the police placed a recommendation to the EC to shut down the mobile internet services to check ‘fake news’.
