Teletalk to take the lead on 5G: Minister

Posts telecommunications and information technology minister Mustafa Jabbar on Saturday said that Awami League-led government will establish state-owned mobile phone operator Teletalk as the industry's leader during its present tenure, reports UNB.

“5G technology, the wonderful invention of the world of information technology, will be commenced in Bangladesh through Teletalk,” said the minister after distributing prizes among the winners of Teletalk Inter-department Cricket Tournament 2019 at Jagannath Hall playground on the Dhaka University campus as the chief guest.

Jabbar, a former student of the university, said, “Teletalk has many challenges including technology and investment. We have to take it forward fighting these challenges.”

He also praised the leadership of prime minister Sheikh Hasina that has “taken Bangladesh to a greater height”.

Later, the minister handed over the trophy to the winning team.
