The Bangladesh Cricket Board have included national team's batsman Soumya Sarkar in the 15-member team to participate in the South Asian Games in Nepal early next month.

Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead the squad, mostly made of players from the Emerging Bangladesh Team.

The rule says a team can field three players above the age of 23 and Soumya is one such exception.

With India and Pakistan not sending their teams, Bangladesh now stand a very good chance to win the Gold.

The only time cricket was played in South Asian Games was in 2010, when Bangladesh won the Gold on home soil.

BCB selector and former captain Habibul Bashar said they named most of the players from the Emerging Bangladesh Team as they had been playing together for a long time.

Squad: Najmul Hossain Shanto, Saif Hassan, Naim Sheikh, Yasir Ali, Afif Hossain, Zakir Hasan, Minhazul Abedin Afridi, Soumya Sarkar, Tanvir Islam, Hasan Mahmud, Mehedi Rana, Sumon Khan, Maidul Islam Bhuiyan, Manik Khan and Mehedi Hasan.
