Director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and organising secretary of the central Awami League Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel has contracted the coronavirus.

Nadel told Prothom Alo that he had given his samples to the Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital two days ago after developing coronavirus symptoms. His samples came back positive for the virus on Thursday.

“I was traveling in different areas. I caught mild fever a week ago and had been following physicians' advice since then.”

He said now he does not have fever or any other symptoms.

Nadel, also chairman of BCB’s women’s wing, said he is staying with his family following all the health guidelines.

Earlier, former cricketer of Bangladesh U-19 Ashikur Rahman and former premier league cricketer Sajib Das contracted the virus.
