National cricketer and Abahani Limited skipper Mushfiqur Rahim was ruled out of the on-going Dhaka Premier League as he has been rested for a week after sustaining a hairline fracture on his left index finger.

The batsman-cum-wicketkeeper got hurt during a match against Gazi Group Cricketers at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka’s Mirpur on Monday.

The physician of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Debashis Chowdhury, told Prothom Alo over mobile phone on Tuesday, “CT scan detects a hairline fracture on Mushfiqur’s left index finger. We have given him a week to rest. He can’t even use the injured finger to bat or anything else in this week.”

Debashis Chowdhury, however, expects the injury will not hinder Mushfiqur from touring Zimbabwe. “We will check the condition of his hand after a week. Hopefully, he (Mushfiqur) will recover before leaving for Zimbabwe.”

Bangladesh will leave for Zimbabwe on 29 June to play a one-off Test, three-match one day international (ODI) series and three-match Twenty20 series.

Mushfiqur Rahim will only play Test and ODI during the tour of Zimbabwe.

Abahani Limited, however, still have three matches left in the Dhaka Premier League and Mushfiqur Rahim scored 267 runs playing 12 matches with a strike of 130.24.
