Regular strikes of Dhaka Dynamites bowlers did not allow Comilla Victorians batsmen to fly high as they managed only 127 runs losing all wickets in their 20 overs in the 39th match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2019 on Friday.

Victorians batsman Tamim Iqbal made a brisk 38 off 20 with the help of four 4s and two 6s. Mahedi Hasan (20 off 15), Wahab Riaz (16 of 12) and Shahid Afridi (18 off 17) also contributed to help Comilla post the respectable total.

The Dynamites bowlers proved their skipper Shakib Al Hasan right in the “important match - a sort of do-or-die game” for Dhaka. Shakib decided to bowl first at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium as “there's a little bit of moisture in the wicket.”

Rubel Hossain picked up four wickets giving away only 30 runs in his four overs while the captain himself and Sunil Narine took two wickets each. Shuvagata Hom took one wicket.

With 10 points from as many matches Dhaka Dynamites are currently in the fifth position, just below the Rajshahi Kings who have 12 points from 12 matches. Comilla Victorians, on the other hand, have already progressed into the next round.

Dhaka will have another chance to progress to the next round even if they lose today’s match since they are ahead of Rajshahi in terms of net run rate.
