Uncapped Abu Jayed is one of the 15 players named in the Bangladesh World Cup squad announced on Tuesday.
It was predicted that captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman and Mohammad Saifuddin would spearhead Bangladesh's pace attack, with many expecting one of Taskin Ahmed or Shafiul Islam to join the team.
The selectors, however, opted for Jayed considering the English condition and it looks like the paceman will be handed his first cap during the Ireland series, to be played just before the World Cup.
The full squad include the following players: Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Mithun, Soumya Sarkar, Mahmudullah, Sabbir Rahman, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Rubel Hossain, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman, Abu Jayed, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mosaddek Hossain
Apart from these 15, Yasir Ali and Nayeem Hasan have also been included in the squad for the Ireland series.
