Touring Sri Lanka Emerging Cricket team were trailing by 170 runs against Bangladesh Emerging Cricket team on the 3rd day of the first four-day unofficial Test match at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna on Thursday.

Resuming the first innings with overnight total 101 for 4 in 38 overs, Sri Lanka scored 190 for 6 in 87 overs, adding only 89 runs on the 3rd day on Thursday.

Middle order batsman P Madhuwantha, who was in batting with 21 runs, finally scored 40 runs off 136 balls with three fours, another overnight batsman Ashen Bandara (23) was still in batting with 57 runs off 208 balls, hitting five boundaries, Ramesh Mendis scored 18 runs off 44 balls featuring two fours while Chamika Karunaratne was in batting 8 runs.

Tanvir Islam and Shafiqul Islam grabbed one wicket each conceding 30 and 47 runs respectively on Thursday, in addition to spinner Nayeem Hasan’s four wickets haul on Wednesday.

Earlier, Bangladesh batted first after winning the toss and scored 360 for all in 135.4 overs, featuring a brilliant century by skipper Nazmul Hossain Shanto (133 runs off 269) and a half century by Afif Hossain (54 runs off 108).

For Sri Lanka, Ramesh Mendis bagged 4 wickets for 73 while Kalana Perera and Asitha Fernando picked up 2 wickets each conceding 62 and 74 runs respectively.

Touring Sri Lanka Emerging Cricket team clinched the three-match unofficial ODI series 2-1 beating hosts Bangladesh Emerging team by seven wickets under D/L method in the 3rd and last match at the same venue last Saturday.

Islanders Sri Lanka made a flying start beating Bangladesh by a big margin of 186 runs in the first one-day match at BKSP in Savar, but the host team made a good comeback in the 2nd match beating Sri Lanka by two wickets at the same venue on 21 August.

The 2nd and final four-day match is scheduled to be held at Sheikh Kamal International Stadium in Cox’s Bazar on 3-6 September.
