All-round Rashid Khan punishes Bangladesh

After hitting his maiden Test half century, Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan claimed four vital Bangladesh wickets on Friday to send the hosts on the back foot in the one-off Test in Chattogram.

In reply to Afghanistan's 342 in the first innings, Bangladesh have so far made 194 for 8 at the close of the second day, still trailing the visitors by 148 runs.

Mosaddek Hossain and Taijul Islam, the 8th and the 10th batsmen, are in the crease and they have made the biggest partnership of this innings, 48.

Mosaddek is unbeaten on 44, made with a four and two sixes, while the industrious Taijul is not out on 14, facing 55 balls, certainly a commendable effort given the failure of the batsmen.

Mominul Haque was the highest scorer for the Tigers, but he fell soon after reaching a fifty. His 52-run innings was studded with eight fours. Liton Das added 33.

In the morning, Bangladesh spinners ruled the show as they picked up five wickets and Afghanistan were bundled out for 342.

Asghar Afghan was unfortunate to miss a century, his innings coming to an end on 92.

Rashid Khan slammed two fours and three sixes to make 51 in 61 balls to make sure his team go near 350.

Taijul ended with four wickets while Shakib and Nayeem Hasan claimed two wickets apiece.

On the first day, Rahmat Shah became the first Afghan to score a Test century, which laid the foundation of their big total.
