Bangladesh national stalwart Mahmudullah Riyad said he is happy with his bowling performance in the first round of the National Cricket League (NCL).

He is playing this year’s NCL for Dhaka Metro who ended their first-round game against Chattogram Division in a draw. The right-arm off spinner bagged six wickets in this game and won the man of the match award, reports UNB.

“I was eager to bowl since I returned from injury that prevented me from bowl for more than seven months. I tried to bowl as much as possible in this game,” Mahmudullah told reporters at the end of the game at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

Along with good show with the ball, he also hit a fifty in the only innings of Dhaka Metro. The right-handed batsman said he would have been happier if he hit a ton.

Mahmudullah said he believes the quality of NCL has increased notably.

“The players are more focused on their game than before. Everyone is trying to do better. I think this is the biggest change in NCL,” he said.

Most of the national players are playing in this edition of NCL. Mahmudullah said playing in NCL before the tour of India will help the Tigers do well.
