A 91-run second wicket partnership between Shan Masood and Azhar Ali has kept Pakistan in a decent position despite some fireworks from Bangladesh paceman Abu Jayed in the Rawalpindi Test.

In reply to Bangladesh’s 233, Pakistan now have 95 for 2 in their first innings at the end of the second day’s first session.

Abu Jayed removed in-form Abid Ali in the innings’ second over as the batsman gave a catch behind the wicket. Abid, who is playing his third Test, was eyeing to emulate former India captain Azharuddin’s record of three centuries in the first three Tests of the career.

He still has a chance though, if he can reach three figures in the hosts’ second innings in the game.

After the fall of Abid, Shan and Azhar Ali repaired some damage before Abu Jayed got rid of the latter near the end of the session.

Before giving a catch to Najmul Hossain Shanto, Azhar made 34 courtesy of four fours.

Shan is unbeaten on 59, already hitting nine fours.
