Bangladesh had some joys in the first session of the third day of the Rawalpindi Test as the bowlers bagged four wickets to contain the Pakistan run wagon.

The hosts managed only 78 runs in the session, a contrast to the second day, but they have already put 420 runs on board, which means a lead of 187 runs.

And they have Haris Sohail batting, who has made 54 in 75 balls, thanks to six fours and a six.

Abu Jayed gave Bangladesh the perfect start when he removed Babar Azam in the day’s second ball, the batsman failing to add to his overnight total of 143.

Ebadat Hossain then got rid of Asad Shafiq (65) five overs later and Rubel Hossain picked up Mohammad Rizwan (10) in quick succession.

Rubel also trapped Yasir Shah leg before a few overs later, but Haris Sohail has kept the lead increasing.

Bangladesh had made 233 in their first innings.
