Bangladesh women take on India in WC opener

The Bangladesh Women’s team will face India in their first game of the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup at the WACA ground in Perth, Australia on Monday.

India smartly started their Women’s T20 WC campaign beating defending champions and hosts Australia 17 runs on Friday at the same venue.

Ahead of their World Cup campaign, Bangladesh captain Salma Khatun is excited to play the World Cup in Australia.

“It’s a great feeling that we came here to play the World Cup. We came to Australia two weeks ago and are now ready to perform. Our preparation is good and we are confident to do well in the main tournament,” Salma told the media on the eve of the match

“We have watched the previous game involving India and Australia. India played really good cricket. But we are not bothered with the way they play, instead, we are focusing on our game,” Bangladesh captain further added.

Before the main event, Bangladesh had two warm-up matches. But one of those match was washed out due to rain and in the other game, Bangladesh beat Pakistan.

After playing against India, Bangladesh will face Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka in their last three games in the group phase on 27, 29 February and 2 March.
