Freshers’ orientation held at IU

A freshers' orientation programme was held at the Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Saturday amid festivity and much enthusiasm, reports UNB. 


IU english department organised the programme at the gallery of the university's Rabindra-Nazrul arts building in the morning.

IU vice-chancellor Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari, also a professor of the department, addressed the programme as the chief guest while pro-VC M Shahinoor Rahman, treasurer M Selim Toha and social science faculty dean Nasim Banu spoke as special guests.

The department's chairperson Salma Sultana was in the chair.

Around a hundred newly-enrolled students took part in the programme.

IU VC Askari said: "If you had a language of your own, it'd be the sharpest weapon to explore the hidden talents within you."

IU english department professors M Maher Ali, M Mamunur Rahman, Shahadat Hossain Azad and associate professor Prodip Kumar Adhikari, among others, were present on the occasion.
