Khulna University celebrates 29th KU Day

The 29th Khulna University (KU) Day was observed on Monday amid much enthusiasm and festivity.

Vice-chancellor (VC) of KU professor Fayquzzaman inaugurated the day’s programme in the morning by releasing balloons and pigeons at Shaheed Hadi Chattar.

The VC also led a colourful procession, largely attended by teachers, students, officials and employees of the university that paraded different parts of the campus. To mark the day, a cake was cut by the VC at Muktomoncha of KU campus where, registrar, treasurer, deans, provosts, proctors and student affair director were also present.

Academic fair, discussion meetings, cultural events and candlelight are the highlights of the day's programme.

In observance of the KU Day, the whole campus including the administrative, senate and cafeteria buildings, dormitories, roads and main gate were colourfully decorated.

KU started its academic activities on 25 November, 1991 with four disciplines under two schools with only 80 students and 30 teachers with professor Golam Rahman as it’s the founder vice-chancellor (VC).

At present, it runs 29 different disciplines under eight schools and two institutes with over 7,000 students and 500 teachers, according to the university authorities.
