Dhaka University ranks 1794th among world’s 2000 universities

The University of Dhaka has ranked 1794th among world’s 2,000 universities, according to Center for World University Rankings (CWUR).

The United Arab Emirates-based organisation published the ranking list titled ‘World University Rankings 2020-21 on Monday on its website. The organisation has been ranking universities since 2012.

No other universities from Bangladesh could secure their positions in the ranking while India has 64 universities and Pakistan’s 10.

CWUR ranks a university on the basis of seven indices – quality of education, alumni employment, quality of faculty, research output, quality of publication, influence of researches, and number of citation.

Dhaka University scored 66.60 out of 100 points. The Harvard University of the United States topped the list with 100 points.

Among the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) nations, 16 of India while Pakistan’s two universities secured places among 1000 universities of the world. No universities of other SAARC countries could secure any positions on the ranking.

According to the CWUR, eight universities out of top ten are from the US and 357 in total. China has 267 universities on the ranking list while Japan’s 126, United Kingdom’s 95, France’s 82 and Russia’s 46.
