RU student tests coronavirus positive in Dhaka

A female student of Mass Communication and Journalism Department of Rajshahi University tested positive for coronavirus during her stay with her family in Dhaka's Mirpur-12, reports UNB.

Confirming the development, professor Lutfor Rahman, proctor of RU, said, "We're trying to contact the family members of the student."

Professor Abdullah Al Mamun, chairman of Mass Communication and Journalism Department, said the student's father tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday.

The infected student called RU journalists on Monday afternoon and informed that all family members had taken coronavirus test as her father was confirmed with the virus.

Her mother and brother tested negative but she was infected according to the test report they got on Monday, she added.

Bangladesh on Monday reported the highest number - 1,034 -- of new confirmed coronavirus cases.

The country has so far reported 15,691 coronavirus cases and 239 deaths.
