The secondary school certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations scheduled to be held on 24 and 25 February will not be deferred if the mayoral by-elections of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) are not held on 26 February.

Controller of examinations of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka, Tapan Kumar Sarkar, said to Prothom Alo on Wednesday that the exams will be held as per the announced routine if there is no balloting for the DNCC mayoral by-polls on 26 February.

The education board authorities earlier decided to defer the examinations of 24 and 25 February following announcement of DNCC by-polls date (on 26 February).

The High Court on Wednesday stayed the mayoral by-polls to DNCC for three months.

The SSC and equivalent examinations will begin across the country on 1 February.
