Seminar on Tagore held at IU

An international seminar “The Influence of World Literature on the Tagorean Characterisation of Women” was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Saturday.

English department of the university organised the seminar at Birshreshtha Hamidur Rahman central auditorium of the campus around 11:30am.

IU vice chancellor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari addressed the programme as the chief guest while pro-VC M Shahinoor Rahman spoke in the seminar as special guest.

Tagore scholar and a well-known author Bina Biswas, former head of the English department of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad delivered the keynote speech related with Tagorean characterisation of women.

Mia M Rashiduzzaman, acting chairman of the department, presided over the seminar conducted by M Sazzad Hossain Jahid, assistant professor of the department.

Some five hundred teachers and students of the department took part at the seminar including Prodip Kumar Adhikari, Mrs. Tanzila Shahid, Mrs. Sonia Sharmin and Prakash Chandra Biswas.
