No fresh exam despite leaks: Nahid

Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Thursday said no fresh SSC test will be taken mentioning that a negligible number of examinees benefited from the question paper leakage, reports UNB.

"Only 0.25 per cent of the total examinees got benefited from the question paper leakage. So, the examinations of 2000,000 students won't be cancelled only for 4,000-5,000 beneficiaries," he said while addressing a press briefing at his ministry.

Citing the report of the probe body, formed to look into the allegations of question paper leakage in the SSC and equivalent examinations, Nahid said no question paper of the creative part of the examinations was leaked. "Only MCQ question papers were leaked just 20 minutes before the start of examinations through closed groups in social media."

He said 'Kha set' question papers of MCQ part of 12 subjects out of 17 were leaked. "It was not possible to find answers to all the questions within such a short time. So, this won't affect the overall results," he said, adding that the investigation committee recommended not cancelling any test as no question paper was leaked openly.

The minister also said no question paper of examinations under Madrasa Education Board and Vocational Board was leaked. "So, there's no question about cancelling their examinations."

The SSC and its equivalent examinations began across the country on 1 February and ended on 26 February.

A total of 2031,899 students from 28,551 educational institutions registered for the examinations.

The results will be published on 6 May.
