Telenor Youth Forum invites applications

Rolling out the theme of "Bright minds, reducing inequalities", the sixth edition of Telenor Youth Forum (TYF) on Monday called for applications.

This year the forum is looking for talented individuals with ideas aimed at the 10th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) to reduce inequalities said the organizers while launching TYF 2018 at a city hotel.

During the launching ceremony, Mahmud Hossain, chief corporate affairs officer of Grameenphone, said in the country with about 170 million population, almost 50 per cent is youth.

"Meaning this country not only has the 'thinkers' but also the 'doers' and here lies the great potential of Bangladesh," he said.

At the 5 previous TYF events, delegates from Bangladesh immensely contributed to the platform's ambition of tackling social challenges through digital solutions and I believe this year will be no different, he said, adding that GP is not only working as a service provider but it is also working for nourishing the culture of innovation in the country.

Mentioning that about 100 ideas will be selected initially among all, Syed Tanvir Husain, acting chief human resource officer of GP, said the programme will also monitor and groom the selected ideas.

TYF 2018 will kick off in Bangladesh from 8 May 2018 and the application process will remain open until 31 July 2018.

TYF 2018 will also organize roadshows to about 12 to 20 universities all across the country to collect applications. Youth of all sectors aged between 20 to 28 years can participate in the competition.
