A new Chair titled 'OIC-IRCICA Chair' will be set up at the department of Islamic History and Culture at Dhaka University (DU) to promote education and research on Islamic history and civilisation, according to UNB.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the DU and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) was signed recently at the 45th OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in the city for setting up the Chair.
DU treasurer Md Kamal Uddin and director general of IRCICA, Halit Eren, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides.
Vice-chancellor of DU Md Akhtaruzzaman was present on this occasion, said a press release of DU.
According to the MoU, DU and IRCICA will work together to establish peace and harmony among the people of different cultures and faiths across the world. They will jointly organise seminar, workshop, conference and meeting.
Besides, they will provide scholarship to DU students for higher study as well as offer awards of appreciation for valuable research works in the fields of Islamic history culture and civilisation.
