To enhance the quality of teaching and learning, a three-day training programme titled 'Induction Training for Young Teachers' began at Rajshahi University (RU) on Saturday, according to UNB.

RU Excellence in Teaching and Learning Centre organised the training programme at the conference room of the university's Education and Research Institute where a total of forty two teachers from ten universities of the north region took part.

RU vice-chancellor professor M Abdus Sobhan inaugurated the training programme as chief guest.

Prof Biswajit Chanda, director of the centre, chaired at the inaugural session while its deputy director professor Abdullah Shams Bin Tariq moderated it.

Addressing the inaugural session, the RU vice-chancellor said, "Teachers, now-a-days, are being recruited at the universities without having any training. As they do not participate in various training programmes, they lack proper knowledge about teaching and learning."

So, there is no alternative of arranging such training session as it will help the young teachers to build themselves as perfect teachers, he also said.

The concluding ceremony of the training session will be held at the university senate building on 14 May.
