Huawei, the world's leading ICT solutions provider, has launched its global flagship CSR programme styled 'Seeds for the future' in Bangladesh to select 10 top students from the country’s five renowned universities.

The programme kicked off with a press conference at the Customer Solution Innovation and Integration Experience Centre (CSIC) in Gulshan Avenue, Dhaka, on Monday, reports UNB.

Starting in 2008, Seeds for the Future has been implemented in 96 countries and international organisations worldwide, benefiting over 30,000 students from 280 universities; among them, more than 2,700 university students have taken a study trip to the Huawei headquarters.

Jerry Wang, chief technical officer of Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited, said at the press conference, "We are extremely delighted to bring Seeds for the Future for the emerging ICT talents of the country."

"This programme allows 10 students (seeds) to develop their ICT skills, gain practical international work experience, and receive an introduction to Chinese language and culture that will prepare them for an increasingly interconnected global job market. I believe that, these students will grow and contribute to the making of Digital Bangladesh."

In order to help cultivate more ICT Talents in Bangladesh and provide an opportunity for the students to learn ICT Technologies and experience the Chinese culture, Huawei will select top 10 excellent students from 5 noted universities of Bangladesh.

This year's selected universities are- Dhaka University (DU), Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET), Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) and Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET).

After selecting top 10 students, they will be sent to China on 2nd week of September 2018 for two weeks to provide an intensive experience of Chinese culture and technology.

For the selection of top 10 students in total, Huawei's expert team with university judges' panel will go to these five universities step by step and select two best students from each university.
