Principals of educational institutions based in Dhaka that follow the UK school programmes gathered at a British Council event organised to discuss learning updates.

It was the first annual ‘Principals’ Forum’, a flagship event for senior school stakeholders, hosted at the British Council auditorium in Dhaka on Saturday, said a news release on Sunday.

The networking event introduced educational leaders from the British Council-supported schools with partners from awarding bodies -- Cambridge Assessment International Education and Pearson Edexcel.

Sebastian Pearce, director (examinations) at British Council, Dhaka, shared the ‘updates on development opportunities’ offered to the Partner Schools Global Network (PSGN).

Safe and healthy environment was emphasised at the event for proper learning and protection of the children, according to the release.

Tanzina Akter, child protection manager at British Council, conducted a ‘child protection awareness’ session to raise awareness among the school leaders.

Water resource expert Ainun Nishat was present at the event where the regional winners of “Your World” global film-making competition from Maple Leaf International School, Dhaka, were awarded.

PSGN school leaders, who participated in the international conference “Schools Now!” held in Jordan earlier this year, also received their ‘certificates of participation’.

Through this programme, the British Council tried to provide the school leaders’ opportunity to further their goals for academic excellence and improved learning outcomes for students of the British school system in Bangladesh, the news release added.
