Three leaders of quota reform movement were injured after the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) allegedly attacked them on Dhaka University (DU) campus on Tuesday, reports UNB.

The injured are Ratul Sarker, Faruk Hossain and Ataullah, joint conveners of Bangladesh General Students' Rights Protection Council, a platform that leads the quota reform movement.

BCL is the student wing of ruling Bangladesh Awami League (AL).

Around 10 BCL leaders and activists swooped on them at around 1:30pm when they were gossiping near the Milon Chattar after a procession demanding the cancellation of DU 'Gha' unit admission test, said witnesses.

"The BCL men suddenly swooped on us when we're gossiping after the procession. We don't understand why they attacked me," Hasan Al Mamun, convener of the platform, told UNB.

The witnesses identified three attackers, reports the Dhaka University correspondent of Prothom Alo.

They are BCL Jahurul Haque Hall unit’s liberation war and research affairs secretary Ali Rimon, deputy secretary of programme and planning affairs Solaiman Hossain and Bangabandhu Hall unit’s deputy secretary of liberation war and research affairs Zakiur Rafid Nafi.

Rimon and Nafi is associates of BCL’s DU unit president Sanjit Chandra Das.

Sajit, however, said he was not aware of any such attack.

"If such attack took place, we'll take action against the responsible," he added.
