The admit cards for Dhaka University's ‘Gha’ unit re-admission tests will be distributed between 5 and 16 November as the results were scrapped earlier amid question paper leak allegations.

A total of 18,463 students who passed the admission tests held on 12 October would be eligible to sit for this exam which would be held from 3:00pm to 4:00pm on 16 November.

According to DU authorities, the applicants will have to download their admit cards afresh from 5:00pm on 5 November to 2:00pm on 16 November.

Confirming this, DU social science faculty dean and main coordinator of the ‘Gha’ (D) unit admission tests, Sadeka Halim told Prothom Alo that the roll number issued previously will remain the same for the re-test.

On 23 October, the DU authorities decided to retake the exam of ‘Gha’ unit's admission tests, citing they found proofs that the questions were leaked.

Fourteen images of handwritten question papers of the admission test were spread on social media around 9:17am on the exam day, 43 minutes prior to the beginning of the exam on 12 October.

After scrutinising the images and the original question papers provided at the exam halls, it was found out that 72 MCQ questions (19 in Bangla, 17 in English and 36 in general knowledge section) got matched.

At first, the DU authorities refuted the allegation of question paper leak. However, students and others concerned did voice their protest.

Akhter Hossain, a student of DU’s law department, went on a hunger strike at the foot of Raju Memorial Sculpture demanding cancellation of the exam. Other student bodies also joined in and demanded the test to be retaken.

Finally, the DU authorities took the decision to retake the admission test at a dean’s committee meeting on 23 October.
