Students given stipend from PM’s education trust

A total of 2,79,272 students of honours and equivalent levels were awarded stipends from the Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust.

Each student will get Tk 4,900 from the Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust, this was said on Sunday at the inaugural function of stipend distribution in the conference room of the education ministry, a press release said.

Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Division Md Sohrab Hossain inaugurated the stipend distribution programme at the function.

Sohrab said selected students for the stipend can withdraw the money through mobile banking of Dutch Bangla Bank in time for continuation of their studies smoothly.

Managing director of Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust ABM Zakir Hossain said nearly 300,000 students get stipend from the education assistance trust every year. The main objective of Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust is to provide stipend to the poor and meritorious students, he added.
