DU hosts int'l conference on innovation

A two-day international conference on ‘Innovation in Engineering and Technology (ICIET)’ began at Dhaka University (DU) on Thursday to promote research and innovation to face global challenges.

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology of the university organised the conference for the first time at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban auditorium on the campus with the theme – ‘Science, Engineering and Technologies for Next Generation’.
DU vice-chancellor Md Akhtaruzzaman formally inaugurated the conference as the chief guest.
Speaking at the inaugural session, he urged the professionals, academicians and researchers to conduct advanced research on engineering and technology to help the government achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs).
The DU VC stressed promoting collaborative research among the researchers around the world for addressing various global challenges.
“This conference will strengthen relationship among the researchers and will create a common platform for academicians and industrialists in this regard,” he said.
DU pro-VC professor Muhammad Samad and chair of IEEE Bangladesh section professor Celia Shahnaz spoke at the inaugural session as the special guests with DU Engineering and Technology Faculty dean professor Md Hasanuzzaman in the chair.
Academicians and researchers from Bangladesh, the USA, the UK, Japan, Taiwan and India are participating in the two-day conference.
