"We won't bother JCD leaders and activists who are regular students and stay at the dormitories," he told newsmen after a meeting of the Dhaka University (DU) Paribesh Parishad held on the campus on Monday over elections to DU Central Students' Union (DUCSU) and hall unions.

JCD general secretary Akramul Hasan said, "Earlier, we attended two meetings under the supervision of the university proctorial team. We did not need any security today. If co-existence is ensured, we want to return to the campus again."

"We don't want untoward incidents to take place on our campus. We Want DUCSU to be effective," he added.

The Paribesh Parishad, a platform comprising university authorities and student organisations, works for maintaining a congenial atmosphere on the campus, reports UNB.

DU vice-chancellor professor Md Akhtaruzzaman presided over the meeting which started around 11:30am and ended around 3pm at Abdul Matin Virtual Classroom of the Administrative Building of the university.

The meeting discussed the amendment to the DUCSU constitution and code of conducts for the central and hall unions' polls.
