In line with the changed English spelling of the district, the authorities of Comilla University have changed the spelling of the university to Cumilla University, reports UNB.

A press release signed by university registrar Abu Taher on Wednesday said the 72nd syndicate meeting took the decision on 25 February.

It urged all concerned to use Cumilla University from now on.

On 2 April last year, the government changed the English spellings of the country's five districts -- Chittagong, Comilla, Barisal, Jessore and Bogra to Chattogram, Cumilla, Barishal, Jashore and Bogura respectively -- in line with their Bangla accents and spellings.
