“People and the community have always been my focus and I would like to work with them to empower and inspire our communities to overcome any challenges that impede our social and economic prosperity,” she added.

Highlighting the aspirations of Bangladeshi Canadian community, Moustafa Makhmud, president of PACE said, “Doly has shown us that if we have aspiration and determination we can achieve our goals; her efforts and commitment to the community and interest in politics has inspired the Canadian Bangladeshi community and enhanced our confidence.”

“This award is in sync with our commitment towards the cause of empowering women. The idea is to recognise and acknowledge the contributions of women achievers, who will be the role models of countless other Bangladeshi Canadian women in Canada and North America,” said Nusrat Jahan, director of Radio Metro Mail.
