500 youths shared ideas on community building

The non-government organisation JAAGO Foundation organized the country’s biggest youth event, National Youth Assembly 2019 between 9 and 12 March in Cox’s Bazar.

JAAGO Foundation executive director Korvi Rakshand inaugurated the opening ceremony on 9 March.

The 4-day long residential event was organised under JAAGO Foundation’s Youth Development Programme named ‘Volunteer for Bangladesh’.

Youth and sports ministry deputy secretary Mozibor Rahman, National Programme Analyst of Country Focal Point of UNV Bangladesh, UNDP, Akter Uddin, UNDP communication head Abdul Quayyum and Mohammadi Group managing director Rubana Huq, among others, addressed the event.

The event was aimed at empowering the youth and encouraging them towards volunteerism and bringing them into community building activity chasing the Sustainable Development Goals by United Nations (SDGs).

Youth participants from all over the country got together with top organisations, their representatives, recognised personalities, ministers, ambassadors and other top decision makers of the society.

Youth volunteers shared their ideas, perspectives, plans and the work they had done over the past year in community building.

Guest participants shared their experiences, ideas, expectations towards the youth, who are the future leaders of the country.

These volunteers, who are the most active youth citizens, returned to their respective districts and work on community building activities, chasing the SDG goals in the following year.

This year, there were 500 participants who joined from all 8 divisions of Bangladesh.

Business leaders and delegates participated and shared their views on different topics featuring leadership, road safety, financial literacy, empowering youths, entrepreneurship, access to information, effective communication human resource and success stories.

International Finance Corporation, Uber Bangladesh, WaterAid, Coca-Cola Bangladesh Limited, Green Delta Insurance Limited, Suzuki Bangladesh Limited, IDLC Finance Limited, Young Bangla, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), Ministry of Youth & Sports and some other renowned organisations participated in the function.
