The students of Islamic University (IU) on Saturday demonstrated demanding exemplary punishment of the perpetrators who are behind the death of Feni madrasa girl, Nusrat Jahan Rafi, reports UNB.

Bangladesh Chhatra Moitri, a left leaning student body of IU unit brought out a procession and formed a human-chain in front Mrittunjoyee Mujib Chatter of the university around 12 pm.

IU Chhatra Moitri unit secretary Abdur Rauf alleged that the state has failed to ensure safety and security in the society.

They urged the government to take immediate actions against the killers of Nusrat and threatened to continue their protest until their demands are met.

Later, another group of students also formed a human-chain seeking justice for Nusrat on the same place.

On 6 April, Nusrat was set afire at an examination centre allegedly by people loyal to the principal after he was arrested and subsequently suspended as she had accused him of sexually harassing her.

Nusrat Jahan lost her battle for life at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital on 11 April night, five days after the incident.
